Position Summary

MSM Department of Family Medicine Established in 1981, the Department of Family Medicine was among the first clinical departments at Morehouse School of Medicine and is the largest department at MSM. The department has 21 faculty members, including 18 physicians, one PhD, two physician extenders, eight administrative staff, 12 clinical staff members, and 18 residents. The department’s most recent ACGME visit was March 2010 and the next visit is scheduled for October 2016. The department is comprised of six divisions: Clinical Services, Residency, Research, Behavior Medicine, Maternal and Child Health, and Medical Student Education. The Department of Family Medicine’s Mission: The Department of Family Medicine prepares residents and students to provide excellent comprehensive family healthcare with an emphasis on underserved and minority communities. We strive to provide access to quality healthcare that stresses prevention and attention to the dignity, mental health, and spiritual health of all individuals and their families. We provide outstanding leadership in the provision of patient care, teaching, and research to improve the health status of families and their communities. General Responsibilities: Engage in teaching, research, and clinical service in the department of family medicine. Participate in the teaching programs of the Department. Engage in patient care activities consistent with the department’s needs and the faculty member’s interests. Assume some administrative duties such as assisting with the Residency Program and/or the Grady East Point Clinic. Specific Position Details: Serve as a faculty member along with other MSM faculty at the CFHC location in East Point or Grady East Point. The clinical sites will include residents, and medical, nursing, and students. The faculty member will be responsible for teaching, supervision and evaluation of trainees. This position may provide coverage at the skilled nursing facility. General Duties:  Serve on department, institutional, and community-based committees  May serve a Course Director for undergraduate medical education courses  May Provide resident and medical student supervision  May undertake clinical responsibilities at other affiliated sites as assigned  Assist with resident recruitment, including interviewing candidates  May collaborate on department research projects  Participate in faculty development programs to develop teaching and/or research skills

Minimum Qualifications

Medical Degree from an accredited college/university is required. A valid Georgia Medical License in good standing with current Board Certification in Family Medicine is required.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in teaching medical students and/or residents
