Position: Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) â Full TimeLocation: PruittHealth Therapy Services servicing PruittHealth â BrookhavenOffering Competitive Salaries and Generous Benefits packageJob Description:To provide Occupational Therapy treatment to all patients referred by the Occupational Therapist according to the established Plan of Care. To maintain effective communication with the OTR, center staff, patients, families and other customers.Essential Skill/Knowledge Functions:Assists in the execution of treatments to patients as prescribed by the evaluating therapist and physicianAssists Occupational Therapist in the compilation of the Plan of Care, according to State Practice ActsCommunicates patient status and program needs to supervising Occupational Therapist timelyAttends patient care team conferences and other meetings as requested.Submits billing, payroll and other expense documentation correctly and in a timely mannerProvides documentation as required by regulatory agencies and fiscal intermediaries in a timely and clinically meaningful manner.Assists in educating health care center staff regarding patient status, therapy interventions, and other Occupational Therapy services.Essential Administrative Functions:Participate in center/agency surveys (Licensure / JCAHO) and any subsequently required reports.Attend and participate in mandatory in-services.Comply with corporate compliance program.Follow established safety procedures when performing tasks and/or working with equipment.Attend and participate in continuing educational programs to keep abreast of changes in your field as well as to maintain current license/certification, as required.Honor patients/residentsâ rights to fair and equitable treatment, self-determination, individuality, privacy, property and civil rights, including the right to wage complaints.Report job-related functions/tasks that involve occupational hazards including exposure to blood and body fluids and others as necessary.Follow established safety regulations, to include fire protection & prevention, smoking regulations, infection control, etc.Licensure/Certification/Education Requirements:Valid professional license in State in which practicingGraduate of ACOTE accredited education program for Occupational Therapy Assistant and eligible to take NBCOT exam.Freedom from illegal drug use. Freedom from use and effects of drugs and alcohol in the workplace.
