Job Description Assists physicians and registered nurses in the comfort, care, and treatment of patients. Performs a variety of semi-skilled nursing responsibilities. Administers medications. Observes and records patient's condition and progress. Operates specialized medical equipment common to assigned work area. Assists in maintaining equipment and related supplies. Administers and records routine medications following appropriate standards of care. Assists in monitoring controlled substances. Providesemotional and physical comfort and safety for patients. Assists with hygiene,nourishment (feeding and enteral feedings), and related personal care for bothambulatory and non-ambulatory patients. Monitors patient response to nourishment and enteral feeding flow rates and irrigation. Provides input into the patient care plan including discharge planning; coordinates care with professional and support staff. Implements appropriate critical pathways. Establishes and maintains communications with the health care team, patient, and family. Teaches patient and family and reinforces as necessary. Works with manager to formulate plan for professional development. Attends educational in-services as appropriate. Accesses and enters information on administration of medicines, technical and physical observations of patients in accordance with hospital guidelines. Maintains confidentiality of information. Maintains clean, safe and therapeutic environment for patient in compliance with Universal Precautions guidelines and safety standards. Performs other related duties as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: A high school diploma or equivalent. Licensed as a Practical Nurse in the state of Georgia. Currently certified in Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS).
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS (Medium): 20-50 lbs; 0-33% of the work day (occasionally); 11-25 lbs, 34-66% of the workday (frequently); 01-10 lbs, 67-100% of the workday (constantly); Lifting 50 lbs max; Carrying of objects up to 25 lbs; Occasional to frequent standing & walking, Occasional sitting, Close eye work (computers, typing, reading, writing), Physical demands may vary depending on assigned work area and work tasks.

Environmental exposures include, but are not limited to: Blood-borne pathogen exposure Bio-hazardous waste Chemicals/gases/fumes/vapors Communicable diseases Electrical shock , Floor Surfaces, Hot/Cold Temperatures, Indoor/Outdoor conditions, Latex, Lighting, Patient care/handling injuries, Radiation , Shift work, Travel may be required. Use of personal protective equipment, including respirators, environmental conditions may vary depending on assigned work area and work tasks.
