Alaka`ina Foundation activities under the 501(c)3 principally benefit the youth of Hawaii through charitable efforts which includes providing innovative educational programs that combine leadership, science & technology,and environmental stewardship.Laulima Government Solutions is looking for a qualified Health Communication/Education Specialist to provide scientific/technical assistance and subject matter expertise to our Department of Health and Human Services client in Atlanta, GA.This candidate will support the client's program mission with related marketing/dissemination for the program, cooperative awardee grantees in state and local partners and any collaborative efforts between CDC and other internal and external program partners. The goals of the current cooperative agreement is to support surveillance efforts for state and local lead poisoning prevention activities to allow those agencies to develop and implement targeted interventions. This position will support the training, education and communication efforts required to support those prevention activities.DUTIES INCLUDE:Support Programs, Projects, and Strategies Health Education and Communication Needs: Provides technical assistance, consultation and guidance to international, national, state and/or local agencies, community based organizations or agency field staff concerning the development, extension and improvement of assigned public health educational programs, systems, strategies and services. Provides consultation and technical advice in the development and implementation of priorities, strategies, and practices for communicating with various audiences (e.g., general public, underserved populations, and populations at risk).Develops and implements communication, education and marketing programs, projects, and strategies for the general public and other audiences, including innovative demonstration projects. In the implementation of programs, projects, and strategies, works with senior health communication specialists to ensure health communication activities are based on theory and use accepted principles, methods, and practices.Consults with channel experts (e.g., organizational, community, mass media) and media outlets to research appropriate formats (e.g., pamphlets, CD-ROM, Web, curricula) for channels and messages; coordinates efforts with public affairs specialists. Applies communication theories and models to communication campaign development; uses audience segmentation analysis and formative research to select appropriate communication channels and messages; maintains ongoing tactical communication campaign and partnership activities.Provides consultation, technical assistance, and training on program and project implementation to internal and external groups and development of training curricula.
