Using a multi-disciplinary approach, the GCCE is staffed by physicians (oncologists) and other specialists from Winship Cancer Institute at Emory, Morehouse School of Medicine. The team includes: surgeons, oncologists, diagnostic radiologists, registered nurses, home health professionals, radiation therapists, mental health professionals, registered dieticians, rehabilitation therapists, social workers, pathologists, pharmacists, hospice representatives, chaplains, community education, outreach coordinators and navigators, who all work closely together to ensure that patients receive the personalized and compassionate care they deserve. The GCCE is accredited by the Commission on Cancer (CoC), a program of the American College of Surgeons (ACoS) and the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC).The Oncology Infusion Registered Nurse is responsible for Chemotherapy preparation and administration, IV hydration, IV iron preparations, and other medications as prescribed by the provider, accurately calculating drug dosages and volumes prior to each treatment start, monitors lab values, monitors for drug reactions and treat per protocol, performs blood draws via central venous access devices as well as by venipuncture, Phlebotomy, ensures all applicable consents are obtained prior to initiation of each new treatment, continuously expanding knowledge base regarding new drugs/therapies as they receive FDA approval and maintains patient confidentiality.QUALIFICATIONS:Current Georgia License as a Registered Professional Nurse.Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support Health Care Provider Card.ONS Chemotherapy/Biotherapy certificationTwo (2) years of clinical nursing experience.Key strengths: multitasking, self-motivated, ability to prioritize, independent thinker, critical thinking/judgment, and patient centered.For those candidates with less than one (1) year of RN experience, please be sure to check out Grady's New Graduate Nurse Residency ProgramEOE-Females/Minorities/Protected Veterans/Individuals with Disabilities.
