Position Description: The Cardiovascular RN provides high quality patient care to the cardiac patient in accordance with the philosophy and policies of Northside Hospital. The Cardiovascular RN acts as a nursing resource as it relates to their area of responsibility, and will be assigned to one of the following areas: Non-Invasive Cardiology, Pacemaker Clinic, Congestive Heart Failure Clinic, Cardiac Rehab or Cath Lab ARU, and perform the following nursing functions: Non-Invasive Cardiovascular - Assisting physicians with all special procedures requiring nursing intervention, patient care, and medication administration such as pacemaker insertion, TEE, Dobutamine, and Persantine studies, supervising stress testing of patients, interpreting holter monitor rhythms and identifying and reporting any abnormalities. Pacemaker Clinic - Interpreting and diagnosing pacemaker functioning and notifying physician of results. Conducting routine pacemaker follow up in clinic and through trans-telephonic clinic and reprogramming as required. CHF Clinic - Providing monitoring, support and patient education to congestive heart failure patient population. Cardiac Rehab - Providing rehabilitative care, education, and psychosocial support to cardiac patient, assisting cardiac patient with exercise plan and developing and conducting education programs for patients and their families, hospital personnel and nursing staff in the area of cardiovascular rehabilitation and healthy living strategies. Cath Lab ARU - Preps patients for cardiac cath procedures and recovers and monitors patients post procedure. Responsible for pulling sheath after cardiac cath.

Position Requirements: Must be a graduate of an accredited School of Nursing and have an active Georgia Registered Nurse license. Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) and ACLS certification strongly preferred. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certification must be obtained within twelve (12) months of hire date into position. Minimum of one (1) year experience involving the treatment of cardiac or critical care patients. Thorough knowledge of cardiac arrhythmia interpretation.
