Facility Overview: The Northside Hospital Cancer Institute (NHCI) utilizes cutting-edge technology, brings advanced clinical research to the local community, and provides compassionate, patient-centered care to defeat cancer. The NHCI has grown into one of the largest and most respected providers of cancer care in the southeast. More than 10,000 new patients are diagnosed and treated annually at NHCI, resulting in approximately 250,000 patient visits. Our top five cancer sites include Breast, Lung, BMT/HEME, Colorectal, and Prostate (9,084 analytic cases in 2015).
Service Area Overview: Northside Hospital Cancer Institute's Research Program is one of the largest community-based oncology/hematology programs in the nation. It is one of only a handful of programs that offers Phase I-IV clinical research. At Northside, we pride ourselves on offering the latest in breakthrough procedures, technologies and treatments through our collaboration with some of the most respected research institutions and programs in the country. Clinical trials are typically available only in university or research institution settings. However, through these partnerships our Cancer Institute gives patients access to exclusive clinical trials, making us one of the largest and most respected providers of comprehensive cancer care in the Southeast.
Our program has received an Outstanding Achievement Award as a fully accredited Comprehensive Community Hospital Cancer Program by the American College of Surgeons’ Commission on Cancer.

Position Description: This position supports the research program primarily in the management of pre-award financial activities for research projects conducted at Northside Hospital. Key responsibilities include the review and finalization of the Medicare Coverage Analysis (MCA) and study cost analysis. The Sr. Research Financial Analyst supports the clinical staff conducting research by serving as the point of contact for pre-award financial administration issues related to clinical research projects and services. This individual works closely with the Accounting, Finance and Revenue Integrity
Position Requirements: Required: Bachelor’s degree in life sciences or an applicable related field with three (3) years of relevant experience. An applicable related field may be business administration, accounting or an experienced Study Coordinator or Research Nurse with financial management experience. It is highly preferred that the individual have an understanding of Medicare billing rules and functional knowledge of essential National Coverage Decisions and the new CMS Clinical Research Policy. Working knowledge of coding, study accounting, and/or billing is highly preferred. Knowledge of key research financial regulations regarding research (e.g., FDA / OHRP / ORI / DHHS / NIH). Knowledge of clinical research administration, Good Clinical Practices, and federal grants preferred. Advanced experience using Microsoft Applications such as Excel, Word, Access and PowerPoint Effective professional communication skills; ability to communicate with others in a clear, understandable, and professional manner. Strong attention to detail and ability to adhere to policies and procedures. Effective organizational skills, effective follow-through and commitment to excellence. Proven track record in customer service, attention to detail, and problem solving. Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. Must be flexible and adaptable, conditions and environment are unpredictable and change frequently.
