Job Description Details:
This is an essential, direct service position on the Street Medicine team. Street Medicine is a globally recognized movement to bring physical and mental health treatment directly to places where homeless individuals are sleeping outdoors. The Street Medicine Nurse provides support for the team's primary care provider and psychiatrist, draws blood for labs, helps dispense medications, provides education to patients, refers patients to clinics for subspecialty treatment, engages in creative problem-solving, and works with the team to engage individuals sleeping outdoors who may lack trust in the medical system. Has a general understanding of etiquette related to the homeless population. Participates in health fairs or community events on weekends as requested 3-4 times a year. Must be available during evening hours Monday - Thursday. Registered nurse preferred.
