4 North is primarily a surgical unit with the capacity for 34 patients. The unit provides services to adult patients following surgical procedures and is open 24 hours daily.
The most commonly treated diagnoses or surgeries include: Acute abdominal pain, thoracic surgeries, lap cholecystectomy, exploratory laparoscopy, female reproductive surgeries, diverticulitis, vascularsurgeries, colon resection, male reproductive surgeries, etc.
Services most frequently provided include: Nursing care by licensed and non-licensed personnel, IV therapy including central lines, Ancillary departments providing clinical support services - respiratory services, wound/ostomy/continence therapy, physical therapy, speech therapy, occupational therapy, social services, discharge planning, nutritional services, pharmacy services, radiology, laboratory services, etc.
Job Summary: The RN Clinical Nurse is a proactive member of an interdisciplinary team of licensed and unlicensed care givers who ensure that patients, families and significant others receive individualized high quality safe patient care. They practice in a clinical environment that is administered by Nurse Managers and other leaders and is supported through the Wellstar Shared Governance Model. The frame work for practice is steered by the Wellstar Professional Model Caring Compassionately, Practicing Professionally, evidenced based practice and research. RN competencies are derived from these models and supported by the Wellstar Core Competencies.
It is expected that all RN Clinical Nurses are licensed, knowledgeable and up hold the practice of nursing as outlined by the Georgia Professional Nursing Practice Act and implements the Scope of Practice and Code of Ethics Standards put forth by the American Nurses Association. As a member of the patient care team it is expected that the individual uh holds the voice of the patient, system policies and procedures while supporting service excellence goals.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS: Graduate of an accredited/approved school of nursing. Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing from an accredited school of nursing is preferred. National certification in area of specialty is also preferred.
Required Minimal Licensure/Certification: Current and active license as a Registered Nurse in the state of Georgia; Must have a current BLS card from the American Heart Association on the first day of employment in the position.
Required Minimal Experience: Experience in direct patient care preferred.
Required Minimal Skills: The ability to read, write and speak the English Language, optimize the use of technology to support clinical care and have basic computer skills; Strong interpersonal, collaborative and customer service skills; The ability to function in a fast paced environment and respond to emergencies in a decisive, composed and respectful manner; Possess excellent time management skills; Practice nursing using evidence and analytical skills along with possessing strong critical thinking skills.
