Service Area Overview: The Infection Prevention Department supports the Northside Hospital Mission and Vision of promoting a culture of patient safety by reducing the risk of acquiring and transmitting infections. The department functions under the direction of the Hospital Epidemiologist to protect the safety and health of our patients, our service providers, volunteers and visitors.

Position Description: The High Risk Infection Prevention Specialist position requires mastery in knowledge of the risk of infection in the Immunosuppressed Patient Population which includes neonates and transplant patients. This position requires independent critical thinking and excellent decision making skills which allow quick communication of findings with leadership and implementation of action plans. This High Risk Infection Prevention Specialist communicates with and directs leadership, staff, and physicians in processes to maintain and improve patient/staff safety and the prevention of transmission of infection.

Position Requirements: Required: 1. Must be a licensed registered nurse 2. Certification in infection control. 3. Five (5) years Infection Prevention experience. Preferred: 1. Bachelor’s degree in nursing. 2. Advanced knowledge of immunosuppressed patients which include neonate and transplant patients.
