Our Cardiovascular Technologist is a professional without Cath Lab and/or interventional experience training to assist during diagnostic and therapeutic invasive cardiovascular procedures. Our CVT in the Cardiac Cath Lab may be a licensed practical nurse, Radiologic Technologist, Respiratory Therapist, EMT/paramedic, or graduate of an accredited CVT program. He/she will train to assist the physician during the procedures and operate specialized equipment in a safe and efficient manner. Responsible for maintaining sterile technique during procedures and assisting the Cath Lab Manager in the maintenance of a safe and efficient environment. Works primarily with adults eighteen to sixty-five as well as geriatric patients over the age of sixty-five.
Required Minimum Education:
High school diploma or equivalent required
Graduate of an Associate or Baccalaureate academic program in Health Science (including, but not limited to, Cardiovascular Technology, Ultrasound, Radiologic Technology, Respiratory Therapy, or nursing) preferred
One year of relevant experience in a medical setting may be substituted in lieu of higher education
Required Minimum Experience:
Work experience preferred
Required Minimum Certification:
Graduates of an accredited Cardiovascular Technician program
RCIS (Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist) Certification
ACLS required within 120 days of employment
Required Minimum Skills:
Knowledge of invasive cardiac monitoring, coronary heart disease, cardiac H&P, and radiologic procedures preferred. Basic knowledge of coronary heart disease, cardiac anatomy and physiology, and radiological procedures. Ability to work within a team environment with individuals of varying abilities and responsibilities. Must be able to interact with physicians during emergencies and assist them with interpretation of data collected. Able to handle emergency/stressful situations. Must have good communication skills.
