WellStar Paulding Hospital

Filled with natural light and innovative, safety-oriented features, the new eight-floor, 295,000-square foot hospital has 56 beds, with the ability to expand to 112 beds. The facility houses 40 emergency exam and pediatric emergency exam rooms, four surgical suites, decentralized nursing stations, private inpatient rooms, administrative offices and a café. It is entirely electronic and was designed with the guiding purpose of being the safest hospital in the world – safe to patients and families, team members, the community and the environment.

Sonographer (Registered) Overview

Our Sonographer assists with providing safe, age appropriate care to the patient by performing all Ultrasound exams provided by the department according to department procedures. The Sonographer has the knowledge and ability to properly and safely obtain a quality diagnostic study and is responsible for performing a wide variety of technical procedures that require independent judgment, ingenuity, and initiative in the utilization of Ultrasound equipment for the diagnosis and/or treatment of diseases. Able to independently perform job functions, our Sonographer sets up the equipment to provide imaging service and positions patient for the procedure.



Graduate of AMA approved School of Sonography

Must have and maintain registry with ARDMS credentials


Current BLS card from the American Heart Association required

MRI registry preferred


One year of experience in Ultrasound preferred


Competency in all aspects of Ultrasound, patient positioning, exposure factors

Must have an understanding of anatomy and pathology as to how they affect the quality of procedures

Effective verbal and written communication skills required

Must display a positive attitude
