Kaiser Permanente Supervisor, Diagnostic Imaging -Southwood in Jonesboro, Georgia
Under the general supervision of the Operations Manager, the Specialty Imaging Supervisor II assumes responsibility for maintaining efficient daily operations of respective Specialty Diagnostic Imaging departments. This position ensures the delivery of high quality specialty imaging care consistent with organizational core values. This position provides direct supervision and coaching for specialty imaging technologist, general imaging technologist and clerical support staff.
Essential Functions: - Supervise subordinate lead technologist, specialty imaging technologist, general imaging technologist, Radiology Nurses and student technologists operating general and specialty imaging equipment use for the diagnosis of disease or trauma. - Responsible for operations for General Diagnostic, Breast Care Services, Nuclear Medicine, Ultrasound, CT, MRI, Interventional and trauma imaging. - Plans, coordinate schedules and assigns work and establish goals and priorities for subordinates. - Develops and monitors work team or units and assigns staff to efficiently and effectively accomplish the department and regional goals. - Communicates observations, facts and comments concerning Specialty Diagnostic Imaging. - Manage FTE allocations by coordinating work schedules in accord with UFCW contract guidelines. - Resolves operational and unforeseen specialty imaging procedural problems and addresses other concerns as directed or necessary. - Perform various diagnostic imaging exams in accordance industry standards and department policy. - Train employees on current practices/procedures and/or process changes. - Conducts routine quality control/quality assurance procedures on imaging equipment and troubleshoot problems according to accreditation standards. - Maintain liaison with professional medical staff and other personnel in administering specialty imaging policies and procedures regarding patient flow and utilization of space, time, supplies and equipment. Provide recommendations to department senior leadership on policies and procedure to improve patient care and utilization of specialty imaging resources. - Knowledge of Specialty imaging Cpt coding and ICD-10 usage and be able to make recommendations on code set up. - Coordinate diagnostic and treatment activities with physicians, radiologist and nursing staff to ensure effective patient care for interventional imaging studies. - Partner with business office to review patient charges to ensure accuracy and answer specialty imaging billing concerns, procedures and charges. - Adhere to and enforces all applicable governing regulations. - Collaborates with other supervisors, managers and medical office staff in planning, monitoring and facilitation of medical services to our members. - Maintains appropriate inventory levels. - Meet fiscal responsibilities preparing/managing operating budget. - Develop reports and/or project plans that communicate outcomes. - Manage duties in the primary work area and demonstrate competency in IV & Contrast administration, orthopedic imaging, pediatric imaging, trauma imaging, cardiology imaging, and interventional imaging. - Serve as clinical instructor for diagnostic imaging technology programs affiliated with Kaiser Permanente. - Assist in research and development with specialty imaging equipment to develop new protocols with imaging techniques (digital imaging, PACS) for use in specialty imaging. - Manage advanced trauma imaging services.
Qualifications: Basic Qualifications: Experience - Minimum four (4) years of work related experience as a Radio logic Technologist. - Minimum three (3) years of leadership experience as a Diagnostic Imaging Supervisor. - Have experience in working effectively and efficiently under tight deadlines, high volumes and multi-tasking. Education - Graduate of an accredited program in Radio logic Technology. License, Certification, Registration - Registration by the American Registry of Radio logic Technology.
Additional Requirements: - Demonstrated strong clinical radiology knowledge base and judgment for specialty imaging. - Must have basic knowledge of procedures, equipment, and accessories utilized for General Diagnostic, Breast Care Services, Nuclear Medicine, Ultrasound, CT, MRI, Interventional and trauma imaging Strong knowledge of QA/QI, MQSA, NCQA and ACR standards, federal and state rules and regulations. - Must have basic knowledge of imaging, processors, PACS, digital imaging, RIS systems, and quality control and information systems and processes. - Strong computer skills are required; (keyboard skills, with knowledge of word processing, spreadsheets, email and use of the Internet). - Ability to handle multiple tasks/projects and meet strict deadlines. - Excellent written and verbal communication/interpersonal skills. - Time management and organizational skills. - Complete a customer service assessment.
Preferred Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree strongly preferred. - Registration in multiple disciplines.
