Our clinical laboratory provides diagnostic laboratory services for inpatients and outpatients at WellStar Kennestone Regional Medical Center. Kennestone General Laboratory is a fully accredited and licensed clinical laboratory that provides high quality, cost-effective, state-of-the art testing services to our customers. We operate 24 hours per day and employ highly trained clinical laboratory professionals to conduct our testing in a high volume, fast- paced environment. We provide routine and STAT services in the following disciplines:

  • Blood Bank using ORTHO ProVue Systems

  • Hematology Testing using the Sysmex 5000 XE and the Beckman Coulter CellaVision System

  • Chemistry Testing on the Roche Diagnostics Cobas 8000 Modular Analyzer

  • Urinalysis testing on the Beckman Coulter Iris IQ200

  • Coagulation testing on the ACL TOP 700CTS

The Laboratory Technical Supervisor is primarily responsible for the specific section or discipline that he or she is assigned. Their technical expertise will serve as a resource to the technologists/ technicians and assistants within the department as well as the Physicians, Nurses and Patients who are our customers. They are the designated Subject Matter Experts in the discipline to which they are assigned. The Technical Supervisor is responsible for the analyzer operation, assay performance and supervision of staff within the section. They are also responsible for maintaining accreditation readiness within the department. Additional responsibilities include all Human Resource functions including scheduling, payroll, and performance evaluations, etc.

Required Minimum Education: Must possess a Baccalaureate degree in Medical Technology or related subject.

Required Minimum Certification: Must be a Medical Technologist (MT) or equivalent from an accrediting agency approved by GDHR (ASCP, HEW, NCA, AMT, AAB or another agency approved by GDHR). SSB certification preferred!

Required Minimum Experience : Must have a minimum 5 years of directly related experience in laboratory medicine. Supervisory experience is preferred, but not required.
