Title: Respiratory Care ConsultantLocation: Atlanta, GAPOSITION SUMMARY:The Respiratory Care Consultant facilitates the quality of patient care through the expansion of care givers knowledge and skills. Provides expert clinical, education and consulting resources to the Clinical Competency Coordinators (CCC) and others who provide education in the centers and offices of PruittHealth. In collaboration with Director of Respiratory Therapy and the Education Team, he/she conducts needs assessment, sets goals and objectives and designs learning experiences that continually strengthen clinicians' abilities to meet the needs of patients and priorities of PruittHealth. The Respiratory Care Consultant improves patient outcomes through education grounded in evidence-based practice and standards of professional and specialty respiratory organizations.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS, DUTIES, AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Educator• Conducts needs assessments using a variety of strategic tools• Assists center CCCs in the assessment of needs and identification of outcomes• Incorporates principles of adult learning in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of education programs• Develops/coordinates education plans related to initial and ongoing competency validation• Develops/coordinates core education to address patient population specific respiratory care• Develops/coordinates core education for the development of beside leaders• Plans, prepares and maintains materials for use in educational programs for accuracy and relevance to the target audience• Identifies and evaluates instructional materials in all types of media and formats• Adjusts content and teaching strategies appropriate learner needs• Provides educational opportunities that benefit nurses at all stages of their career development• Delivers competence based programs for nursing partners with a focus upon improvement of skills and retention of knowledge• Develops evidence-based educational materials• Supports partner development with educational activities (which include wound care, pain management, certification, mentoring, JCAHO requirements, product roll-outs, etc.)• Evaluates the effectiveness of educational programming• Prepares short and long term planning and programs to address identified needs• Teaches content as needed and/or assigned within clinical expertise to facilitate orientation, partner development and/or safe practice.• Serves as team member in the BLS Instructor Program and teaches, monitors, and develops others in their performance and teaching skills.

Consultant• Serves as an educational consultant to centers, patient placement department, task forces, committees, and projects relating to policy, procedure and program development• Consults with Regional Teams, Administrators, Director of Health Services, and PruittHealth Consultants regarding Respiratory Therapy program and patient care best practices.• Responses to regulatory mandates for research and management of sentinel events• Responds to identified needs of PruittHealth to promote quality patient care and safety• Collaborates with Consulting Services and Operations to recommend educational strategies for the implementation clinical standards• Consults with CCCs regarding individual learning needs• Provides patient assessment and recommendations for care related to trach and other respiratory needs in collaboration with SNC and center leadership.LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION, EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:1. Must be a graduate of an AMA approved program of Respiratory Therapy at the level of a Bachelor's degree, Masters preferred.2. Must be a Registered Respiratory Therapist.3. Must have a Georgia, North Carolina and South Carolina License for Respiratory Care Practitioner.4. Must have a minimum of five years clinical experience in patient care covering all major aspects of respiratory care â (set-up and monitoring equipment, oxygen delivery, ventilators, suctioning, administering bronchodilators)5. Five years supervisory experience in Respiratory Care with responsibilities covering evaluations, discipline, problem resolution, and motivation.6. American Heart Association BLS Instructor or Training Center Faculty7. Basic competency in E-mail, Word, Power Point, spreadsheet, and internet programs. Knowledge of Audiovisual equipment set up an advantage8. Effective facilitation, oral presentation skills as well as curriculum and course design experience.
