Upholds levels of security and confidentiality of records/data. Assures data meets regulatory and hospital standards. Codes and classifies data sets according to ICD-10-CM guidelines. Keeps abreast of coding guidelines and reimbursement reporting requirements.
Coding inpatient and outpatient medical records using ICD-10-CM coding procedures, chart analysis and chart completion process, assuring the integrity and authenticity of all medical recodes, completing various departmental projects as needed, and handles requests form medical records according to JCAHO, federal and state regulation, RiverWoods Behavioral Health System’s Mission, and Performance Improvement standards.
Aids in the maintenance of compliance for various accrediting and licensing agencies.
Must possess above average amount of knowledge of Health Information Management for various accrediting and licensing agencies.
Perform chart assembly & analysis, monitoring and reporting of deficiencies/delinquencies for physicians, social services, and nursing when needed.
Pull charts as necessary for staff, physicians, and regulatory agencies for auditing and review purposes
Demonstrates knowledge and practice of hospital and clinic policies and procedures, patient rights, confidentiality and boundaries.
Performs other duties as assigned
